"The entire city is a stage" is how the great dramatist Max Reinhardt once referred to Salzburg. The beautiful city on the Salzach has repeatedly lent its attractive scenery as locations for exciting adventures & romantic stories for movies & television films. Some 160 movies & countless television productions were filmed in the city & province of Salzburg after World War II.
One of the first movies to be shot in Salzburg was "Vagabonds" in 1949 starring Paula Wessely & Attila Hörbiger. Other film directors soon discovered the charm of Salzburg's scenery, including Hollywood director Robert Wise, who shot one of the greatest movies of all time, "The Sound of Music", in 1965 starring Julie Andrews & Christopher Plummer - the story of the Salzburg Trapp Family whose songs took the world by storm!

The Sound of Music Tour was born when first visitors came to Salzburg in 1965, shortly after the release of the film, trying to find locations like the lakeside castle or the gazebo. Over the last couple of years it has matured to an extensive Salzburg city & lake district tour which not only takes its guests to the settings of the movie but also leads to the main cultural attractions of the region.
To see the Salzkammergut lake district is a "must" for every visitor, so take the tour and do not miss out!

Taxi will cost appoximately €14 and will take 20 mins
- Public transport from Airport:
Bus number 2 & 77 operate every 15-20 and runs between the airport terminal and Salzburg central railway station. €1.80. Takes 20-25 mins.
- Car Hire recommended:
Car Hire Companies available at the airport are: Avis, Budget, Denzel, Hertz, esixt and Thrifty
- Travelling by car: Arrival by car from Vienna: - Take the A1 motorway A1 and exit for Salzburg West. From Germany and A8 motorway: - Change to the A1 motorway towards Vienna and exit for Salzburg West. From the A10 motorway (Tauernautobahn): - Continue driving on the A10 and then take the A1 motorway towards Vienna and take the exit for Salzburg West. From the Salzburg West exit: - Take the B1 to the airport and centre. - After about 3.4 km at a T-junction turn right into the Maxglaner Hauptstrasse and continue driving along that road for 1.9 km. - Immediately before the Neutor Tunnel, you will see our hotel on the right-hand side.
